Apple confirms iPhone prices for India

The new Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are incoming, and that means Apple had to reconfigure the pricing of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus as well. Both of last year’s phones will continue to sell alongside the new 7 series phones, which will be available in India from 07 October. Here is how the entire portfolio now stacks up.

Apple iPhone 7 India prices
After the keynote in San Francisco earlier this month, Apple had confirmed that the iPhone 7 line-up in India will be pricedRs.60,000 onwards. The confirmed prices are as follows—the iPhone 7 (32GB) is priced atRs.60,000 while the 128GB variant costsRs.70,000 and the 256GB version is priced atRs.80,000. With no 16GB or 64GB variants in the line-up anymore, we feel that most users would aim for the iPhone 7 (128GB) variant, because of the longevity and future proofing offered by the mammoth storage space, compared to the 32GB variant (though this is definitely an upgrade over the 16GB option in the previous generation iPhones)

The bigger of the two new iPhones, will be priced at Rs.72,000 for the 32GB version,Rs.82,000 for the 128GB version andRs.92,000 for the 256GB version. Contrary to expectations, the prices of the latest iPhones still do not breach the Rs.1,00,000 mark. And that is because of Apple’s attempts to price the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus around the same price points as when the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were launched last year.

Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus India prices
Apple had already confirmed that they will be dropping the 16GB storage variants of these two phones, and now they are available in 32GB and 128GB options. The iPhone 6s costs Rs.50,000 (32GB) andRs.60,000 (128GB). The iPhone 6s Plus is now priced at Rs.60,000 (32GB) and Rs.70,000 (128GB).
For both these phones, we feel that the reduced pricing of the base storage spec variants would be a lot more attractive for buyers who had been eyeing the idea of buying an iPhone for a while now—and that makes perfect sense. The iPhone 6s still is a very good smartphone and the iPhone 6s Plus has one of the most consistent smartphone cameras out there. However, if you are considering splurging on a 128GB variant of either of these phones, we would recommend spending that little extra and picking up the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus with the 128GB storage, simply because it means you are a power user and the newer hardware and specs would be more useful in the long run.

Apple iPhone SE India prices
The smallest form factor of the lot, the iPhone SE remains a part of the line-up. The 16GB variant is priced at Rs.39,000 while the 64GB version will set you back by Rs.44,000. This phone is ideal for that demographic of users who want a very compact smartphone but will not compromise in terms of the latest hardware and software.
