2 Methods to Disable WhatsApp Story Status Feature (Root Required)

WhatsApp has introduced a new ‘Status’ feature yesterday. This is quite similar to Instagram and Snapchat stories. Users can set pictures or videos as their status and these disappear after 24 hours. WhatsApp, unlike Instagram or Snapchat, is a more family oriented app. Considering that, people are understandably terrified of what this update implies.

Here is 2 Methods/Tricks to Disable WhatsApp Story Status Feature in Rooted device.

2) Any Root File Explorer App or SharedPreferences Editor

1) Firstly Go To Settings -> Apps -> WhatsApp and then tap ‘Force Stop’.

2) For Root Explorers, open the file: /data/data/com.whatsapp/shared_prefs/com.whatsapp_preferences.xml

For SharedPreference Editors, select ‘WhatsApp’ and then select ‘com.whatsapp_preferences’.

3) Find the key name ‘status_mode‘ and make its value  ‘0’.from ‘1’.

For text editors, change

 

 

4) Now Launch WhatsApp and see if there’s a difference.

NOTE: - This is currently working in version 2.17.81. This may or may not work with future WhatsApp updates and might require you to do these steps again

1) Download WA Tweaks App From Here Or From Here

2) Install WA Tweaks & Open it

3) Now WA Tweaks app will ask you to Grant the root access.

4) Now Goto Settings > Manage Apps > WhatsApp and Force Stop WhatsApp.

5) Open the WA Tweaks and just Turn off the "New Home UI feature"

6) Now, open your WhatsApp again to see the Difference.
